After leaving the Bronx district attorney's office, Khalifah began focusing on personal injury matters. She tried numerous cases on behalf of injured parties and negotiated millions of dollars in settlements on behalf of injured victims. Some of Khalifah's most noteworthy accomplishments included receiving a six-figure jury verdict for a client who was slashed during a bar assault and negotiating a monetary settlement on behalf of an individual who was discriminated against by Burger King due to a hearing disability.
While employed as an associate at a Newark law firm, Khalifah was counsel to several urban school districts, municipalities and public housing authorities throughout New Jersey. During that time, Khalifah was responsible for providing defense on behalf of public entities for legal claims such as employment/personnel matters, laws against discrimination, Title 59 claims, collective bargaining agreements and numerous other legal matters affecting public entities.
Khalifah also served as corporation counselor for the city of East Orange as she was charged with management of the law department, which consisted of covey or assisted corporation counsels specializing in litigation, employment and real estate tax, redevelopment contract, worker's compensation and various areas of law impacting municipal government.
Khalifah also serves as deputy counsel to the board of chosen freeholders for the county of Essex, where she assists in the development of ordinances and resolutions on behalf of the freeholder board.
Khalifah continues to serve as counsel for various municipal entities throughout the state of New Jersey. She is a well-respected attorney who has a wide range of experience in various areas of law, which has enabled her to develop and maintain a diverse body of clients.
